Tropical Storm Hermine - Operations Still Normal

We saw that Tropical Storm Hermine was downgraded to a tropical depression. Our weather radio has an alarm function that goes off when there are warnings or watches issued by the National Weather Service. The radio has been rocking back and forth on the nearby table the last couple of days with the changing conditions and multiple alarms. The highlight was last night, shortly after 7 PM when a tornado "warning" set off the radio. The warning means that a red light comes on with a message on the console, and the automated voice that comes on the radio telling people in the affected area that rotation in the clouds has been verified. We went to the television station that carries the radar and noted that the tornado area was more than a few miles away, so we relaxed, but we kept our eyes peeled for any developments, since the sky grew dark. There was a downpour, as the outer bands of the tropical storm doused the roof with a thrumming sound, but all was cozy and safe as we continued to process our orders.

There were some flood warnings overnight, but we were able to continue checking any new orders and the Postman came by at his station and we were able to get our orders in the mail. The only major event was that the dew point temperature was the same as the air temperature, so the humidity was virtually 100 percent. We are flipping to the news channels, and there are still people getting in trouble, some even are getting washed off the road in surrounding communities. But all is well here, we are still processing orders, even as we jump out of our chairs when the weather radio sounds its noisy warnings. We know the routes to avoid when flooding occurs, the roads are designed to allow water to flow over the surface without damage in many low-lying places, but we have to use alternate routing should we need to go out.
